It is imperative that you mark your player’s availability well in advance so your coach can work on match rosters and positions. Playing time is dictated by training attendance, effort, and attitude. If your player does not know the lesson that has been worked on, they will not play much that game day.
Start Times
Arrive early, so that warmups and matches can start on time. Arrival time is listed in your TeamSnap app. Do not arrive at 10am for a 10am game.
- U2-U6 5 min to start on time
- U7 up 30 min warmup times
All recreational matches take place on Saturdays, travel on Sunday. The match schedule is on TeamSnap.
Referees
The referees will be volunteer youth, training to be paid certified referees. Travel Referees are certified and paid by the home team. There is zero tolerance for talking to the refs.
Coaching From the Sidelines
Do not coach from the sidelines. You can volunteer for that. We don’t play kick ball and have specific lessons we are working on. Each Match Day the entire club should be working on that week’s lesson. Most of the coaching instructions should be on that. You can help by using these coaching points. Depending on age, players can only focus on a few things.
Kick Start
For the Kick Start (U2-U4) division, the focus is purely on individual skill development through games designed to enhance growth and foster a learning environment. There are no matches.
Roots
The Roots (U5-U6) division will transition to real matches on Saturday depending on development. The goal is to get to matches by the 2nd to 4th week. Again, this is a process, and we need to trust the process.
Peewee
The Peewee (U7-U8) division will have matches with no score on Saturday. This is when they should be learning the main rules and concept of a match.
U9 – U10
9-10 is when they are learning all the rules and major concepts of soccer. Teamwork will be fostered while they develop individual skills. Players that are serious about playing competitively should be looking to play on our Elite Teams.
U11 +
Recreation at this age is perfect for sharpening our individual skills and have fun with friends on game day. School age players should be playing to keep their skills up and have fun with friends if they are not on an Elite Team. We encourage all players who want to continue to their highest potential, and are looking for a greater challenge, to join the Elite Teams.
